PALAD artists venture ‘Beyond Boundaries’ in ARTablado show

In the realm of artistic expression, boundaries are meant to be broken. And what lies beyond is always intriguing, inviting and downright enticing. Such is the spirit embodied by the Pililla Association of Local Artists and Designers (PALAD).

Robinsons Land ARTablado presents an exhibition by PALAD artists titled “Beyond Boundaries,” which is on view until Sept. 15 at ARTablado on the upper ground floor, Main Mall, of Robinsons Antipolo. The exhibition features the works of 13 talented individuals — Amiel Manalo, Betchay Tejada, Ma. Christina Mae De Mesa, Dionisio “Dennis” Pagalunan Jr., Dian Masinsin, Hannah Castalone, Jeremy Benasa, Joy Blanco, Jun Roco, Marlon Lucenara, Serineo “Neo” Hilao, Manuel “Noli” Alejandro, and Rona Acuesa — who have transcended limits to create a compelling artistic narrative.

From its inception, PALAD has sought to redefine artistic horizons. Anchored in the heart of Pililla, Rizal, this collective of local artists and designers has been actively shaping their community’s cultural landscape. With each brushstroke and sculpting gesture, they exemplify the power of creativity to bridge the gap between the known and the unknown.

Steering clear of conventional norms, PALAD has consistently sought to break new ground through the members’ artistic endeavors. Their exhibits, a testament to their dedication, transcend the town of Pililla, extending their influence to a broader audience. By participating in numerous exhibitions, both within and outside their town, PALAD emerges as a force to reckon with, advocating for the vital role of art in society.

Underlying their artistic journey is a deep-rooted connection with their hometown. PALAD was nurtured by Pililla Mayor Dan V. Masinsin, and this support has endured through the years. The local government’s unwavering commitment has enabled PALAD to embark on projects that enrich their community, from inspiring art workshops to exhilarating art contests. This steadfast partnership exemplifies the potent fusion of art and governance for the greater good.

Evidently, the decision to exhibit at ARTablado wasn’t arbitrary. Recognizing ARTablado’s reputation as a thriving hub for artists across Rizal and other art-centric towns and cities in the country, PALAD chose it as a canvas to showcase their prowess.

Blanco says the synergy between PALAD and ARTablado is evident, as both entities strive to promote and empower local artists, demonstrating that art has the power to unite people from all walks of life.

The people behind Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) believe in the ingenuity and artistry of Filipinos. RLC has allocated spaces at Robinsons malls in Antipolo and Ortigas to hold exhibitions for art practitioners who deserve to showcase their hard work, grit and perseverance. ARTablado’s impact has been instantaneous for members of the art community who have been pining for a platform where every artist — young or old, established or up-and-coming. A much welcome development in the local art scene.

Through their creations and with ARTablado as their artistic stage, the members of PALAD seek to unveil the intricate tapestry of Pililla’s artistic heritage, revealing a world beyond the familiar landscapes — a world pulsating with the energy of their creativity.

Each PALAD member’s artistic odyssey defies boundaries and challenges preconceived notions. Their journey is not solely confined to the canvas but resonates in the hearts of those who encounter their creations. As they unveil their works at ARTablado, the artists of PALAD invite us to step beyond the boundaries of the ordinary, to immerse ourselves in a world where art knows no limits and creativity takes flight.
